Dry Cupping

How It Works:

• A cup (usually made of glass, silicone, or plastic) is placed on the skin.
• The air inside the cup is removed by using a manual pump to suck out the air.
• The vacuum draws the skin upward into the cup, which stays on the body for 5 to 15 minutes.

Common Uses:

• Muscle pain and tension
• Back and neck pain
• Headaches
• Sports recovery
• General wellness or detox (according to traditional practices)

Key Features of Dry Cupping:

• No incisions or bleeding (unlike Wet Cupping, which involves small cuts to draw out blood).
• Often leaves circular bruises or discoloration that fade in a few days.
• Usually done by licensed practitioners in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Naturopathy, or Massage Therapy.

Safety and Effectiveness:

• Not recommended for people with certain conditions like bleeding disorders, skin infections, or if pregnant (unless cleared by a doctor).

Dry needling

Dry needling is a technique used by physical therapists and other trained healthcare professionals to treat muscle pain and dysfunction. It involves inserting very thin, solid filament needles (similar to acupuncture needles) into trigger points or tight bands of muscle tissue.

Purpose of Dry Needling:

• To relieve pain
• To reduce muscle tension
• To improve range of motion
• To restore function

How it Works:

• The needle is inserted into a myofascial trigger point, which is a sensitive spot in a tight muscle.
• The insertion can cause a local twitch response—a quick, involuntary muscle contraction. This is often a good sign that the correct spot was targeted.
• This helps reset the muscle and allows it to relax, improving blood flow and healing.

Dry Needling vs. Acupuncture:

• Dry needling is based on Western medicine, focusing on muscle and nerve dysfunction.
• Acupuncture comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is based on energy flow (qi) and meridians.
• Although both use similar needles, the theory, technique, and purpose behind them are quite different.

• Muscle pain or spasms
• Tension headaches
• Neck and back pain
• Tendonitis
• Sports injuries
• Sciatica
• TMJ dysfunction

Is it Painful?

• It can cause some discomfort or twitching during the procedure.
• Afterward, you might feel soreness, like after a workout, which usually fades in a day or two.

Nutritional Advice

All of Beckie’s treatments can be supported with nutritional advice if required. Beckie has an ITEC Level 3 Nutritional qualification which enables her to help you with some specialist diets and provide nutritional advice – including vitamins and supplements – with regards to general health and well-being.

Useful for people who are generally feeling run-down, lethargic or struggling with IBS and are considering (or are on) a specialist diet to help ensure they are including an adequate intake of nutrients and food groups, ie: vegetarian, low carb or gluten free.

This can be offered as a full consultation or as an add-on to an existing treatment at a discounted rate.

Not suitable for diabetics or anyone under medical care or investigation for dietary needsfor ongoing stomach/bowel complaints.

Reiki

Usui Reiki is the original and most widely practiced form of Reiki, a Japanese energy-healing system founded by MikaoUsui in the early 20th century. It is based on the idea that a universal life energy flows through all living things, and that by channelling this energy, a practitioner can help restore balance and support healing in the body, mind, and spirit.

Your Reiki practitioner channels Reiki energy either lightly touching or hovering over your body. The energy flows to where it is most needed, helping to release blockages, reduce stress, and activate the body’s natural healing response.

Sessions are gentle, non-invasive, and the recipient remains clothed.

Many people use it help increase and cleanse their energy flow, remove blockages and promote well-being physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Reiki is completely non-denominational and will flow regardless of your beliefs – providing part of you (maybe your subconscious self) wants it to and is willing to accept it.
